This doesn't work like other memory cleaners that do nothing but force windows to free up memory by using up all the avail. memory. This old trick then causes your system to lag big time!

Cleanmem works in a matter of about 5 sec. It uses a windows api call that is in Windows2000,xp,2003,Vista &; 2008 that tells windows to cleanup the workspace of a processes thus freeing up any memory the process no longer needs. Other memory cleaners end up forcing the memory into the page file slowing down your system. This tool does not. The API call frees up unused memory from programs, when a program needs the memory again it can simply take it back instead of forcing the memory out of ram and into the page file.

A good example is this, say you have quickbooks installed and setup for multi user mode. The quickbooks service takes 37mb of memory just sitting there! when cleanmem is ran it uses only 600kb and wont grow again until it actually is used. The same goes for all processes.

Info

v1.3.0 Added a only list to give the user more control, if a person wishes to have Cleanmem only clean certain processes all they have to do is add them to the list. If the list is blank Cleanmem will clean all processes, of course skipping ones in the ignore list.

Notes

To use CacheSet on NT 4.0 Service Pack 4 and later you must have the ";Increase Quota"; privilege (administrator accounts have this privilege by default). CacheSet has been updated to enable this privilege so that it works on SP4.

Info

CacheSet is an applet that allows you to manipulate the working-set parameters of the system file cache. Unlike CacheMan, CacheSet runs on all versions of NT and will work without modifications on new Service Pack releases. In addition to providing you the ability to control the minimum and maximum working set sizes, it also allows you to reset the Cacheී;s working set, forcing it to grow as necessary from a minimal starting point. Also unlike CacheMan, changes made with CacheSet have an immediate effect on the size of the Cache.

Use CacheSet to performance tune the system Cache size in a way not possible without tweaking internal variables the way CacheMan does.

Tips

The MAX value must be the MIN * 1024

Examples:
(use the 64 settings if your having allot of writing issues to usb drives)

Min Values
(KB)
Max Values
(KB)
64 65536
128 131072
 256 262144

Tips

To fix USB write delay issues SET the MIN to 128 and SET the MAX to 131072

Info

UNIX provides a standard utility called Sync, which can be used to direct the operating system to flush all file system data to disk in order to insure that it is stable and wonී;t be lost in case of a system failure. Otherwise, any modified data present in the cache would be lost. Here is an equivalent that I wrote, called Sync, that works on all versions of Windows. Use it whenever you want to know that modified file data is safely stored on your hard drives. Unfortunately, Sync requires administrative privileges to run. This version also lets you flush removable drives such as ZIP drives.

Tips

Using Sync

Usage: sync [-r] [-e] [drive letter list]

-rFlush removable drives.
-eEjects removable drives.

Specifying specific drives (e.g. ";;c e";;) will result in Sync only flushing those drives.

Tips

Donී;t try to run sync as any one other then the logged in user. If you do sync will just ";;;hang";;; (visible in Task Manager). Currently itී;s unknown why.
